Former presidential candidate Rick Perry will anchor the Kansas Republican Partys convention in February.

The GOP gathering in Overland Park will feature a fundraising reception and speech by Perry, the Texas governor who dropped out of the 2012 Republican primary.

He was endorsed by Gov. Sam Brownback, who himself ran for president in 2007 while serving in the US Senate.

Perry will be at the state convention Feb. 16. A rally Feb. 17 will be led by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who also has been mentioned as a future presidential candidate.

World Wrestling Entertainment and their most popular superstars John Cena were both honored Monday by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Foundation issued a press release earlier Monday honoring them for their commitment for grating wishes for sick children around the world. To show their appreciation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation dedicated a wrestling themed conference room to the WWE in at their global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, the wrestling companys marquee attraction John Cena is on track to grant 300 wishes to children. As a longtime wrestling fan and independent wrestler, news like this makes me proud to be involved in pro wrestling.

When Spencer Garvin entered his senior season for the Hendersonville High School football program, he knew he would have to be a leader. He was one of the teams’ strongest players number-wise. Coming off a junior year that led to 4 starts over the year, Garvin knew he would have to step up, because he was the only senior on the offensive line. He did just that earning 2nd team All State recognition in class 5A.

The 5’6 220 offensive guard was always just disregarded due to his size, but that never stopped him. “I thought of myself as having a great advantage with my height. I could get under opponents easier than people that are 4 to 5 inches taller,”...
